Route

Museum Zaanse Tijd is easily accessible in several ways. You can come by car, but there are also excellent options for public transport. Before your trip, always check the current traffic information for possible detours.

Public transport

Zaandijk-Zaanse Schans station is within walking distance (12 minutes) from  Museum Zaanse Tijd and bus line 391 takes you from Amsterdam Central station to bus stop ‘Zaandam, Zaanse Schans’ in 45 minutes. From the bus stop it is about a 7-minute walk across the beautiful Zaanse Schans to Museum Zaanse Tijd.

Parking fee

If you decide to come by car, there is a large parking lot at the Zaanse Schans. The daily rate for this parking space for passenger cars is € 11. If you decide to purchase a Zaanse Schans Card, with which you can visit many different museums and windmills, this rate is only € 7.

By car: A7 Leeuwarden-Amsterdam

Driving on the A7 from Leeuwarden in the direction of Amsterdam, you should take exit 2-Wormerland (Zaanstad, t’ Kalf, Zaandijk) in the direction of Wormerland. You then merge onto the Leeghwaterweg (s153/s155). After +/- 5 minutes you will see the Zaanse Schans on your right-hand side. You can park at the entrance of the Schans (the first exit from the roundabout), after which it is a 7-minute walk across the beautiful Zaanse Schans to Museum Zaanse Tijd.

By car: A8 Amsterdam-Zaanstad

Driving on the A8 from Amsterdam towards Zaanstad, keep right at the Zaandam junction and follow the signs to Leeuwarden via the A7 (E22, Purmerend). Driving on the A7, take exit 2-Zaandijk in the direction of Zaandijk/Zaanse Schans. Then you have to turn left to the Leeghwaterweg (s153/s155). After +/- 5 minutes you will see the Zaanse Schans on your right-hand side. You can park at the entrance of the Schans (the first exit from the roundabout), after which it is a 7-minute walk across the beautiful Zaanse Schans to Museum Zaanse Tijd.

By car: A8 Zaanstad-Amsterdam

By car: N203 from Alkmaar

Driving on the Provincialeweg (N203) from Alkmaar, you must turn left onto the Guisweg (s153). After a few minutes you will see the Zaanse Schans on the left. You can park at the entrance of the Schans (the third exit from the roundabout), after which it is a 7-minute walk across the beautiful Zaanse Schans to Museum Zaanse Tijd.
